HANOVER PACKAGING COMPANY TO POWER ITS MANUFACTURING AND FULFILLMENT FACILITIES WITH 100% RENEWABLE ENERGY

Hanover, PA (February 27, 2008) – Hanover Packaging announced today it has purchased renewable energy to offset 100 percent of the electricity used in at its manufacturing and fulfillment facilities. This change in energy usage from conventional non-renewable sources to renewable energy is the equivalent to NOT burning over 400,000 pounds of coal each year and avoids the production of nearly one million pounds of carbon dioxide. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency estimates that helping to avoid these emissions has a similar impact to eliminating close to one million miles each year of auto travel.

"This is an important milestone in our commitment to the environment", says Larry Chatzkel, President and CEO of Hanover Packaging., "and by purchasing renewable energy credits we have substantially reduced our carbon footprint. Hanover Packaging actively considers the environmental impact of both its production processes and its end products. The Company has long recycled nearly 100% of its post-process waste".

In its design and manufacture of specialty packaging, Hanover has implemented a number of exciting innovations in sustainable packaging. Their design team has introduced packaging designs that minimize material usage, and actively incorporates recycled materials, such as RPET and recycled board, into the design of its packaging. In December, 2007, the Company introduced its new GREENVUE ™ combination package which combines paper and transparent materials that can be recycled.

Hanover Packaging now purchases renewable energy credits from renewable energy facilities including wind farms and biomass facilities. The Company has chosen Colo.-based
Renewable Choice Energy as its supplier of RECs. Renewable Choice Energy is a leading national provider that is building the market for clean and renewable sources of energy.

How RECs Work
This purchase of renewable power is made possible by renewable energy credits (RECs). Since it is physically impossible to deliver electricity straight from a renewable energy facility to Hanover Packaging, renewable energy credits make purchasing renewable power possible. RECs ensure that the amount of electricity the company uses is replaced onto the power grid with clean, renewable energy.

Renewable energy credits help get more clean power online. A REC is created every time a renewable energy facility adds one MWh of electricity to the national electricity grid. Every renewable energy developer considers REC sales when deciding whether or not to build new facilities. RECs allow government and consumers to price the positive value of renewable energy, making its generation more competitive financially with electricity generated from fossil fuels.
More than twenty states rely on RECs to track and verify government renewable energy mandates. Consumers purchased approximately 12 million megawatt hours of RECs in 2006. Organizations supporting the use of RECs include the World Resources Institute, the Union of Concerned Scientists, and the Natural Resources Defense Council.
